POSITION SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Manager oversees all manufacturing activities within the company including scheduling, CNC machine shop, metal fabrication, and quality of precision prototype and low-rate production components. Maintains overall manufacturing objectives and initiatives. Identifies and solves performance/operational issues to improve development efficiency. Leads and develops the manufacturing team. Oversees a robust project management process and delivery timelines to keep projects on schedule. The ideal candidate will have experience in CNC 5-axis milling, live tool turning, metal fabrication and welding, be familiar with ISO and AS 9100 standards, and promoting a strong team environment to solve manufacturing challenges.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversees and manages a team of professional machinists and operators; planning, directing, and coordinating all departments to achieve the Company goals and objectives
- Deliver results for KPIs in Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Morale, Revenue, and Profit
- Plan and maintain monthly, weekly, and daily production schedules
- Manage all production activity and staff including:
- Develop and define manufacturing and quality processes
- CNC machining
- Metal fabrication and welding
- Assembly
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Quality, Supply-Chain, Shipping & Receiving, and Finance functions
- Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations, initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
- Organize and direct workflow to satisfy all production requirements in the most cost-efficient manner including the participation in process review of new jobs, job acceptance, job requirements review, job order creation, material quoting and transition to finished goods
- Develop the skills of all employees to maximize the overall operational efficiencies
- Maintaining employee morale by creating a safe and efficient working environment
- Establish and support organizational culture promoting teamwork and a commitment to service amidst a diverse colleague and customer base
- Maintains product and Company reputation by complying with government regulations
- Develop, maintain, and produce weekly production capacity, efficiency, and quality KPI reports
- Specify, implement, and maintain a Manufacturing Resource Planning system
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service
- Apply continuous improvement methods, along with input from manufacturing staff, to implement lean manufacturing best practices, improve production efficiency, reduce costs using knowledge of machine and fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials, and parts
- Develop technical and process roadmaps to maintain Baker's competitive advantage in prototype and low-rate production by expanding, enhancing, and adding the latest in manufacturing technologies
- Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing
- Manage sourcing, procurement, and supply-chain relationships with raw material and outside process vendors
- Order and maintain tooling
- Develop and maintain operations and efficiency improvements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Five (5) years of experience in a metal manufacturing environment
- Three (3) years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- High-level leadership and decision-making skills
- Able to quickly adapt/adjust focus, and problem solve within evolving work demands
- Working knowledge of manufacturing / mechanical processes and equipment
- Prototype and low-rate production machining and fabrication experience
- Experience leading highly skilled machinists (leading journeyman / tool makers) and fabricators
- Raw material procurement and outside vendor management
- Experience with supply chain management
- Ability to motivate, influence, and educate employees
- Ability to easily interact within all levels of the organization
- Understands a process driven approach to operations
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Positive attitude, strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines
- Experience with ISO-9001 and AS-9100 certifications
- United States Citizenship required by contract
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or manufacturing technology preferred
- Hands-on experience in CNC machining, turning, milling (including set-ups), fabrication, and welding
- Working knowledge of CNC programming
