POSITION SUMMARY
The General Manager will provide strong leadership by working with Baker management team to develop and execute long-term vision, strategies, goals, budgets, and plans. The General Manager is responsible for management of all activities in the organizations including sales, operations, and finance while leading development of organizational design, leadership teams, and efficient systems and processes to meet current and future needs of its customers. The ideal candidate will have outstanding organizational and leadership abilities, strong aptitude for decision-making and problem-solving, and proven abilities to grow a company’s revenue, customer base, and profitability.
Industry knowledge in defense, aerospace, automotive, and industrial is desired, as well as domain knowledge in product development, engineering, and manufacturing of power and propulsion solutions to government and commercial customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The General Manager:
- Responsible for all business functions including strategy, business development and sales, operations, finance, and P&L
- Lead and oversee all business activities to ensure the business produces the desired results for its customers with best-in-class cost, schedule, and performance that are consistent with the overall strategy and mission
- Organizational development building functional groups and talent; implement an organization-wide program management system; lead creation of business development and sales functions supported by account management
- Develop short and long-term strategic plans for sustainable growth through organic, partnership and acquisition modes
- Build relationships with current and future customers of Baker to lead business development and sales
- Review, understand, and advise on key contract negotiations related to federal and commercial contracting, banking, tax, and insurance matters
- Work with the Controller to develop short and long-term financial models that support the strategic plans, communicate the needs of the businesses, and assist with overall decision making. Manage the quarterly and annual budgeting process and P&L responsibilities
- Display leadership posture and decision-making skills to lead the company with confidence while providing authority, responsibility, and accountability to the organization. Promote a strong culture of teamwork, positive attitude, and respect. Train, develop, coach and mentor members of the organization
- Regularly communicate with members of WDC leadership, the Advisory Groups, and other stakeholders in all areas of Human Resources, Sales and Product Development, Operations, and Finance
- Work with Human Resources to develop, enforce and reevaluate company policies and procedures that are consistent with competitive best practices, the company core values, and tribal mission
- Assess and implement processes, tools, systems to maximize the value of the organizations
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years’ operating role in small to mid-size enterprise >$50MM or;
- Small-mid size business owner with strong business development, portfolio development experience who can grow each business to $20MM+ enterprises in 5 years
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Industrial with finance experience and/or education
- Product development experience in product strategy, planning, engineering, development, production, finance, and P&L
- Significant experience in business development, sales, and business relationships
- Strong leadership capabilities and expertise in gaining alignment among stakeholders
- Ability to manage people and projects and be a strong Baker business culture fit
- United States Citizenship / ITAR compliance required by contract
- Excellent verbal and written communication
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s of Business Administration desired
- Power and propulsion experience in combustion, hybrid, and electrification systems of ground and aerial vehicles desired
- Experience or familiarity with performance and racing industry is desired
- Working knowledge of direct Government contracting and administration is desired
