AWS Senior Data Engineer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the corporate AWS Redshift and S3 services
• Lead data migration and integration efforts on Redshift
• Craft processes to ensure clean data
• Collaborate with engineers and business customers to understand data needs (batch and real time), capture requirements and deliver complete BI solutions
• Design and build data extraction, transformation, and loading processes by writing custom data pipelines
• Design, implement and support a platform that can provide ad-hoc access to large datasets and unstructured data
• Tune application and query performance using performance profiling tools and SQL
• Ability to root cause and fix bugs/defects. Review and provide both critical feedback and solutions to resolve AWS architectural questions/issues.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience, Skills and Education:

• 15+ years’ experience in architecting data warehouse solutions, ETL design, implementation, maintenance, data warehouse schema design, and data modeling
• 7+ years strong experience implementing Cloud and infrastructure AWS components (server, storage, network, data, and applications) to deliver end to end Cloud architectures and designs.
• 7+ years production experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) including S3, Redshift, Glue, Big Data, and MySQL
• Must have experience working with high-volume data and building batch and near real-time ETL processes using AWS services such as Redshift, Matillion
• Prepare data for job execution and support existing jobs. Solve, analyze and repair production issues. Experience with S3 Object store and other Big Data storage platforms
• Proven experience in working on cloud environments of technically complex, highly integrated enterprise environments
• Excellent business and communication skills to work with business owners to understand data requirements, and to build ETL to ingest the data into redshift
• Understand the existing architecture and pain points and realign design strategy to ensure ease of operation/performance.
• Experience in applying Data Engineering best practices SDLC (coding, unit testing, version control, code review)
• Experience Optimizations including increasing Operational efficiencies on AWS while reducing overall DevOps costs
• Experience with building large scale data processing systems
• Solid understanding of data design patterns and best practices
• Working knowledge of data visualization tools e.g., Tableau or SSRS
• Experience leading change, taking initiative, and driving results
• Effective communication skills and strong problem-solving skills
• Proven ability and desire to mentor others in a team environment
• Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university in Computer Science or related field
• AWS Certification preferred
• Strong critical and analytical problem-solving skills
• Comfortable multi-tasking
