Job description
The AWS Infrastructure Cloud Engineer role will make significant contributions to our cloud architecture and our technical strategy surrounding BRPs ‘cloud-first’ approach to solutions. The successful candidate will play an integral role in overall cloud strategy and will take a hands-on approach to its execution. The Cloud Engineer will have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of IT operations and an ongoing impact on growth.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and manage various solutions on AWS such as our landing zone, critical infrastructure, networking, and security
- Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance
- Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to various teams to build their cloud competencies.
- Regularly evaluates existing cloud infrastructure to identify risks or opportunities for improvement.
- Implement automated failovers, redundant/HA systems and DR/BC measures to ensure that we achieve a 99.9% uptime in a manner that is scalable and high performing.
- Incorporate security solutions when designing and implementing systems and applications
- Work with IT and business leaders to explain the benefits of design and architecture transformations.
Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
- Three or more years of experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS platforms
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) and configuration management (AWS SSM, Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
- Strong understanding of network concepts is required (DHCP, DNS, VLANS, etc) and AWS network services (Transit Gateway, VPC, NACL, Security Groups, etc)
- AWS Control Tower, Single Sign-on, , Guardrails configurations
- Preferred: experience with building and managing an AWS landing zone
- One of more AWS Certifications preferred
- Understanding of and experience with the five pillars of a well-architected framework
- Highly self-motived, highly available, and driven to exceed colleague expectation
- Ability to think critically and logically under pressure
- Strong technical experience with proven history of troubleshooting complex, cross segment, cross office, and cross team problems
- Demonstrates the organization’s core values, exuding behavior that is aligned with the firm’s culture.
