Automotive Instructor

Position Summary

Community Tech is an Information Technology services company with over 11 years of service to both the commercial and public sectors. We are a small minority-owned business located in Washington DC, that takes pride in maintaining strong and extended business relationships with clients such as the District Government, Veterans Affairs, Wine.com, Career Team, Marriott, Providence Medical Building, Bowie State University, and ResCare Inc., to name a few.

The primary duties of the automotive instructor with Community Tech, LLC involves, training youth participating in the automotive program at the New Beginnings Detention Facility for Adjudicated Youth, located in Laurel, Maryland. It is the responsibility of the automotive instructor to properly train the participants in auto repair, parts installation, and auto maintenance. Your responsibilities will also include teaching basic maintenance techniques for tune-ups, tire rotation, and oil changes, and you may demonstrate more advanced techniques for computer diagnostics or installing or repairing vital systems such as the engine, electrical system, or transmission.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate in-classroom learning and hands-on training with a diverse group of students
• Educate students on relevant safety requirements, laws, and regulations pertaining to
• automotive trades
• Train students on the proper usage of power tools
• Provide students with knowledge in automotive concepts and employability skills, as it relates to
• obtaining employment in the automotive field.
• Support efforts to complete monthly progress reports for student participants and ensure the Director of Operations receives appropriate documents in a timely fashion
• Report regularly to the Director of Education on the progress being made
• Assure computer equipment is functioning and appropriately utilized by the participants (If any challenges with the equipment please enter a help desk ticket)
• Attend weekly staff meetings
• Attend regular supervision sessions

Qualifications

• ASE Master Technician certified (preferred but not required)
• Strong mechanic skills and professional experience in auto repair and automotive systems

Requirements

• Must be able to pass a background check
• Must be PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) compliant
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Must be computer skills literate (Microsoft Office Suite) to include but not limited to; Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft PowerPoint)

Schedule

• Contract
• Sundays from 8:00am – 11:30am
• October 2022 - September 2023

This is a public-facing position. Telework for “emergency / special” situations must be approved in advance by Community Tech CEO or his designee.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $75.00 - $100.00 per day
