Position Summary

PST is currently seeking an Automation Engineer. This position will report out of the PST facility located in Concord, NH. This position may be remote when not on sites. Relocation is preferred not required.

Key Responsibilities

The Automation Engineer will support the Ancillary Manager by programing, troubleshooting, and supporting installation of robotic and process equipment at customer’s worksites. This will include training customers in the safe operation and use of equipment, interfacing with contractors and customers. While in-office, provide engineering support to customers, and perform customer demonstrations. In addition, candidate will provide system diagnosis and assist operations / engineering in the assembly and/or testing of product. Additional duties include recommending spare parts, consumable materials, and services, and other duties as assigned.

  • Assisting with installation/integration of equipment, robot/equipment programming, train operators / engineers at customer’s worksite
  • Project supervision/management in house and at customer site
  • Assisting operations with assembly/set-up/test of ancillary/custom equipment
  • Providing customer training
  • Integrate safe design concepts in all products and projects
  • Participate in Design Review, Process Hazard Analysis and Engineering Management of Change meetings as needed
  • Support continuous improvement within the engineering group i.e. development of standards, engineering tools, etc
  • Must be able to work at ITAR customers

Skills Required:

  • Ability to program robots (Fanuc and ABB Preferred), motor drives, and the understanding of multi-axis machinery
  • Properly organize and structure programming to make it understandable to all experienced programmers
  • Work to write, test, and modify programs that direct the actions of robotic equipment
  • Use robotic software to create directions for manufacturing or industrial applications
  • Collaborates with developers, fellow engineers, project managers, customers, and other stakeholders to understand the requirements and scope of projects
  • Configures, tests and debugs robots and robotic systems to ensure safe and proper operation
  • Knowledgeable and experience with common robot operation and programming (ABB and Fanuc Preferred)
  • Knowledge and experience with safety standards such as RIA
  • Be aware and follow all laws and regulations governing safety for industrial robotic applications

Skills Preferred:

  • 4 year technical degree
  • Experience managing a project in the field with minimal supervision preferred
  • Knowledge of thermal spray process and industrial gas
  • Ability to generate mechanical and electrical drawings including wiring and plumbing schematics
  • Ability to use common PLC software programs to field test, troubleshoot and program equipment (AB Preferred)
  • Knowledge and experience with safety standards such as NFPA, NEC, CE, OSHA
  • Ability to troubleshoot process equipment to the component level
  • 2-5 years’ experience in industrial controls, industrial automation, or robotics
  • Thermal Spray Knowledge is a plus
  • Training will be provided as required
