ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA

This is Onsite lab-based role for 1 year with possibility of extension.

Project Description:

• Design, perform, troubleshoot, document, analyze and interpret assigned research, with minimal supervision, to support exploratory activities as well as project focused goals.
• Scour and critically evaluate current literature to identify opportunities for new and existing programs.
• Establish key assays and model systems, suitable for the mechanistic investigation of potential targets, as well as evaluation of therapeutic candidates.
• Effectively communicate data and findings to broad project teams.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree with 3 or more years of relevant experience, or master's degree with 1 year or more of relevant experience, in chemical biology, molecular and cellular biology, pharmacology, biology, or other relevant scientific discipline.
• Familiar with routine immunoassays (bead or plate based) as well as standard molecular biology techniques (western blotting, qPCR, etc....).
• Experience working with human as well as pre-clinical tissues, primary cells, and cell lines in both routine and complex novel assay systems.
• Additional years of relevant industry experience are preferable but not required.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: target identification & validation, adipose or muscle biology, immunology in the context of insulin resistance.
• Experience with flow cytometry or immunohistochemistry.
• Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint
• Evidence of scientific productivity based on publications and presentations.
• Works independently and is able to simultaneously handle a diverse workload with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Effective communicator, having people skills and being able to work as a team player and working effectively in a matrixed environment.

This 12+month position starts ASAP.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $41.35 - $43.00 per hour
