Assistant Store Manager
Job description
Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA is seeking a qualified, motivated Assistant Store Manager for our Houston Road location!
Do you have supervisory experience in retail, food services, manufacturing, or similar industries? Do you have strong customer service, financial, production, and staff management experience? Have you led a team of 15 to 30 employees? Our Assistant Store Manager position may be the opportunity for you!
This position starts at $14.00 per hour with annual merit increases and production bonuses. Summary
Manage the daily operations of a high-volume retail store, in an assistant role. Acts as Store Manager in the manager’s absence.
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Work closely with the Store Manager to achieve goals and objectives and to increase sales and donations.
- Recommend changes to operational procedures to achieve maximized expense-to-revenue ratios.
- Empower, lead, and manage store staff; ensuring safety, productivity, and success.
- Maintain a functional awareness of competition and retail trends, being able to suggest appropriate courses of action.
- Performs all opening and closing procedures and responsibilities
- Ensure that the store audits are maintained at or above an acceptable level
- Ensure the LP Audits are maintained at an acceptable level
- Able to delegate work to appropriate employees.
- Ensure security and safety systems are in working order, including but not limited to door locks, alarms, bank deposits, refunds, vouchers, and incident reports
- Maintain a strong knowledge of the Point-Of-Sale System.
- Oversee daily operations of all Store functional areas including sales floor, storefront, donation center, production areas, and moving products internally.
- Supports the Store Manager in interviews, hiring, and completing the onboarding process for all new hires.
- To perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School or GED preferred
- At least 2 years supervising retail operations (or similar) with experience in being held accountable and responsible for the success of the business, operations, and financial results of a function or department.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work varied schedules to include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays. In coordination with the Store Manager must be able to work any hours necessary to provide complete store coverage and supervision.
- To train, develop and recognize talent and leadership.
- Valid Driver's License (Class C), car insurance, and reliable automobile.
- Ability to use a computer with a basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and other Office programs.
- Demonstrated interest in a career in retail
- Proficiency with POS reporting procedures
