We have a rare opening on our long-tenured Management team due to relocation. We are looking for a person with a track record of success managing people to directly hire to join our team! This is one of the members of our key Management Team, working in tandem with Quality, Maintenance, Production, Sanitation, Sales, and our Owner. This person is involved in the day-to-day operation of the plant, oversees Sanitation and Packaging supervisors on 2nd shift, and takes care of ordering raw materials and ingredients. They will be a vital part of a team that has built a culture of respect for people, continuous improvement, and never compromising on food safety.

The ideal candidate is looking for a role where their contributions are valued and they are given the opportunity to implement their ideas. This person will be hands-on in the plant, training and working with employees and coaching them in techniques, procedures, and standards. They’ll build relationships with both leadership and employees, championing our Food Safety and Quality culture in both their words and actions. This person will always be looking for ways to improve the process, quality, and overall operation. In addition, this position may assist or lead R&D projects.

Qualifications and Experience

· Minimum 5+ years of experience in high volume bakery production

· Proven management, leadership, and supervisory abilities

· Excellent organizational and time management skillset

· Professional and effective interpersonal communicator

· Creative, self-starting, team problem solver

· Computer Proficiency – including Microsoft Office, Email, and Inventory/Ordering Management Systems

· Good mathematical ability

· HACCP Certification and audit experience

· SQF Practitioner Certification preferred

· PCQI Certification preferred, must have working knowledge sufficient to function as PCQI

· Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required

· Willingness and ability to work some weekends and/or second shift hours

· Bilingual Preferred

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand for long periods of time on production floor and lift more than 50 pounds unassisted

· Ability to operate a forklift (training required)

Responsibilities

As the Assistant Plant Manager, you will report directly to the Plant Manager and assist with all daily tasks in production, packaging, and warehouse departments.

This position is expected to spend the majority of their time maintaining a daily presence on the production floor with some office duties.

· Foster and encourage a positive environment of outstanding teamwork and mutual respect

· Supervise and mentor production, packaging, warehouse, and sanitation staff

· Implement and maintain a lean culture with focus on waste management, change over/downtime reduction, and operational efficiency

· Work collaboratively with other departments and act as a liaison between production personnel and plant management team to create effective corrective actions and drive continuous improvement

· Responsible for training and maintaining compliance with company associates in operational safety practices, SQF-based operating procedures, and GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)

· Drive human and food safety/quality improvements, support SQF and FDA audits, and ensure personnel and facility make decisions based on food safety and quality and are ‘Audit ready’

· Serve on the HACCP Team, Food Defense, and Food Safety Leadership Teams

· Review HACCP and all other daily paperwork to verify it is complete and accurate

· Ensure that product is made following established recipes and meets quality assurance, internal, and customer specifications

· Assist in R&D projects as required

· Order ingredients and raw materials daily as directed by the Plant Manager and production schedule

· Responsible for writing procedures and facilitating implementation and training as needed

· Maintain knowledge of all plant SOPs, PRPs, and Policies including sanitation, maintenance, and production.

· Oversee second shift packaging and sanitation staff and facilitate hiring of positions
