Rendered Stone is a Landscape Design and Install company in the East Bay specializing in hardscaping, irrigation, native and non native plantings, and regularly scheduled eco-conscious gardening maintenance. We are NOT a mow and blow operation, use ONLY all electric equipment, all organic fertilizers, and no chemical pesticides. Our work sites are all outside so are inherently covid safe, however all employees must commit to safe covid practices when on site.

IMMEDIATE OPENINGS

Assistant Gardener for Maintenance Team:

We are seeking a reliable, hard-working, semi-knowledgeable, and meticulously minded Assistant Gardener for the landscape maintenance route.

This is one part fine gardening, so we need someone who has some horticultural knowledge, and some understanding of proper plant care & pruning practices.

It’s also one part cleanup/maintenance so we need someone thorough and specific who can use a weed wacker/blower/mower (all electrical), or pick up piles of brush as needed.

It’s relatively fast paced where you visit multiple clients per day, so you will have to have good time management abilities and be punctual.

We are specifically looking for someone who has a vehicle that can transport tools to and from the storage area (in Alameda) and then from job to job. A small truck or even a compact SUV should be able to do it. This is NOT a dealbreaker tho!
All jobs are within 10-15 mins from each other by car in the general Oakland/Berkeley/Alameda area.

Skills We Like:
Knowledge of plants and plant ID
Experience in proper pruning and care for a variety of plants
Irrigation Knowledge and basic repair skills
Plant Disease diagnostic and treatment experience
Familiarity with (all natural) fertilizing/insecticide sprays
Committed to Eco-friendly practices and using organic materials/supplies Time management skills
Ability to work efficiently with attention to detail
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
Excellent communication skills & open to feedback

Time Commitment & Pay
We are in immediate need for 1 day per week and are flexible on the day (Tues, Wed, Thurs).
After training more work may be available.
We have some flexibility here so just check with us about your availability and needs.

Pay to commensurate with experience and skill
Typically $22/hr to start
Payment is W2 paid bi weekly
Paid lunch break/travel between jobs
Flat fee reimbursement for tool transport

You will work under the Lead Garden Manager so there can be some training involved, if you feel pretty good but are still looking to gain more horticultural knowledge while being outside beautifying yards. If you know all of this and more, do give us a shout as well. There is always room for expansion!
