Job description
Job Overview:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8am - 4pm, onsite coverage as needed
- Location: Fully onsite in the Lower East Side
- Pay Salary: $70,000
Job Summary:
Reporting to the facilities manager, the assistant facilities manager will support the everyday maintenance of the Urban Family Center by managing the systems and administrative responsibilities, supporting the management of the maintenance team, and overseeing projects across the 6 building program.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- 3 years supervisory experience; experience overseeing the onboarding, training, and compliance of maintenance team members
- Proven experience in creating and managing systems for work orders, inventory, ordering, and other administrative tasks
- Knowledge of carpentry, locksmithing, painting, HVAC, electric, and plumbing. Ability to troubleshoot and identify maintenance emergencies
- High-volume project management skills; ability to work with internal teams and external contractors and meet all deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving ability and good crisis intervention skills
- Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills required
- Ability to obtain fire safety coordinator (F-80) and OSHA training within the first 90 days of employment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including some holidays, evenings and weekends; availability to participate in a rotating on call schedule in case of emergencies
Responsibilities:
- Assist the facilities manager in the operation of the Maintenance Department
- Coordinate with New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) and external contractors
- Oversee and direct workload for maintenance team
- Prepare for and facilitate yearly inspections ensuring compliance with funders and other oversight agencies
- Assist with hiring, training, and onboarding of new team members as needed
- Supervise and maintain inventory within the department; re-order supplies and create and send a quarterly inventory report to program leadership
- Other duties as assigned duty by the facilities manager
- Respond to emergency situations that occur involving the overall operations of the shelter
Essential Physical Job Functions:
- Ability to work on ladders, scaffold, etc. to maintain properties.
- Ability to use a variety of tools.
- Ability to work onsite in the Lower East Side
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
