The Assistant Director of Diversity Initiatives & Community Relations assists with overall development and management of recruitment strategies, particularly as it relates to diversifying the undergraduate student applicant and enrollment pool. Main responsibilities include the following: Lead efforts in identifying, recruiting and enrolling students from under-represented populations; Manage Philadelphia-specific programming for prospective students, families and counselors through the execution of on-campus and off-campus events, workshops and electronic communication/social media that will serve prospects in the college search process; Manage Philadelphia territory including travel and execution of high school visits and college fair programs. Work with Associate Director to establish recruitment plans that target growth opportunities in existing territories outside of Philadelphia that will strengthen on-going efforts, particularly in out-of-state markets; Work directly with counselors in those markets to execute and support plan. Additional responsibilities include the following: Assist in management of scholarship programs specific to Philadelphia students; Review freshman applications and make admissions decisions. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in an educational setting (preferably with underrepresented populations). Knowledge of admission terminology and tests. Experience working with Microsoft Office systems. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to travel both locally and out-of-state.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and to exhibit self-direction and motivation.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as manage groups.
  • Ability to interact with people of a multitude of constituencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience working with Banner technology.

This position requires a background check.
This position requires Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
