JOB SUMMARY


This position provides leadership, program management, organization and consistent communication to Academic Advising across the university’s three campuses for declared undergraduate students. This position oversees NSU’s college advisement activities in partnership with college academic departments and deans. This position is responsible for ensuring engagement within the designated College and the greater Academic Advising community.

MAJOR DUTIES

This position provides day to day leadership and management of Academic Advisors within NSU’s academic colleges on the Tahlequah, Muskogee, and Broken Arrow Campuses.
Assists with updating and tracking strategic plans, learning outcomes, and assessments for Academic Advising
Communicates regularly with Deans, Associate/Assistant Deans, and Department Chairs to ensure advisors are engaging in college activities and ensure consistency in information.
Assists the Executive Director in daily operations related to NSU’s Academic Advising model
Provides ongoing outreach and training opportunities to ensure accuracy and consistency across all college advising units.
Responsible for continuous training, professional development and maintenance of academic advising resource materials for all academic advisors, faculty and support staff.
Coordinates outreach efforts to continuing students who have not enrolled for subsequent terms.
Assists with hiring and training of Academic Advisors.
Manages applicable budgets.
Develops and maintains publications.
Performs related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

Knowledge of academic advising principles and student development theory.
Knowledge of data analysis and reporting.
Skill in the delegation of responsibility and authority.
Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Knowledge of federal, state and local laws related to student privacy and records management.
Knowledge of state regents of higher education and RUSO policies.
Knowledge of budget development and management principles.
Skill in the delegation of responsibility and authority.
Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
Skill in decision making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skill in oral and written communication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a master’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
At least 2 years of experience in Academic Advising, Enrollment Management, Counseling or related area.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience supervising full-time staff.
Experience managing budgets.

Annual salary $50,232.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
