Red Rooster's Café and Restaurant Group (Café) is a fast paced and detail oriented environment dedicated to serving quality coffee, fine tea, baked goods, and vegetarian offerings for breakfast and lunch to the Floyd community and tourists visiting the area. We are seeking an experienced baker preferably with at least one year of previous experience baking professionally, although home bakers may still apply.

Successful candidates for the job will be responsible for opening the café's kitchen in the morning, baking fresh breakfast items and premade ready-to-bake items, and prepping standard breakfast foods. Other responsibilities include setting out the pastries and baked goods for the café prior to opening, fulfilling breakfast orders as they come in until the cook/Chef arrives in the morning.
Oftentimes this shift is worked solo. The individual in this position will also work side-by-side with our head baker, creating and preparing our entire baked goods/pastry menu. They will be expected to follow the recipes as written, ensure the quality of the products used is of good standards (fresh, not expired, meets RR's expectations) and communicate effectively when supplies are running low.
The position advertised here is currently part-time position with full-time potential expected in the near future. The position is hourly and has starting times from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. (depending on the cafe's needs) Mondays-Saturdays.
Assistant Baker's Responsibilities
- Open kitchen most mornings
- Setting up all baked goods for the café in an appealing and attractive manner, safely displaying baked goods with allergens and other dietary restrictions
- Ensure all breakfast items are ready at time of opening
- Preparing and baking high quality pastries and baked goods from our library as well as introducing your own ideas when applicable
