Job Description: Area Manager
Outerspace is a new type of Ops Center. We come from the brand side and have built and led operations for companies like Steve Madden, Prada and Nice Laundry. We leverage the latest technology to support our high growth brands and their daily operations. Outerspace provides a number of services including, but not limited to, warehousing and fulfillment, customization and light manufacturing, and product photography.
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated fulfillment center Area Manager to join our growing team. In this position you will manage the day-to-day functionality of the fulfillment center. You will ensure timely completion of the workload in a safe and efficient manner, in compliance with all relevant standards and guidelines, while demonstrating a commitment to teamwork, associate growth and development, and continuous improvement processes and performance.
A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead and develop a team of associates in a warehouse environment. You will utilize your superb communication and time management skills to motivate and mentor associates to meet targeted goals.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor, maintain, and develop specific, executable strategies to improve product flow, productivity and quality within the department.
- Analyze workload and adjust staff accordingly to accomplish departmental/building goals.
- Ensure associate safety through education and training, promoting safety awareness and accountability, and by promptly addressing potential hazards.
- Reviews essential data that forecasts inbound and outbound volumes provided by the Operations Manager to accurately forecast labor needs to schedules can be accurately produced by Managers.
- Build processes for the overall monitoring, management and escalation of all inventory and order issues.
- Partners with Operations Managers to create RE's (reasonable expectancies) to which the Manager, Assistant Manager and Associates will be held accountable to.
- Reviews all equipment used and the work space in their department to make sure it's being kept in clean neat proper working order.
- Observes that all PPE and other safety equipment are used properly and is in good working order
- Solves problems and makes informed decisions that affect the associates, service, and productivity of his or her department.
- Provides feedback to upper management on associates concerns and works on resolving
- Sets the agenda for daily huddles and weekly meetings, communicates goals, objectives and company directives to associates in a clear, concise, understandable manner
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business Operations or related field strongly preferred.
- 1-3 years of management and warehousing experience including, but not limited to, retail distribution, logistics, warehouse operations and transportation management.
- Superb people skills in mentoring, coaching/counseling, motivation, performance management, and employee relations
- Ability to drive continuous improvement, provide accurate reporting, and utilize data.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated understanding of warehouse management systems.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office productsMust have impeccable communication skills – both verbal and written
- Bilingual Spanish a plus but not required
