Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Laborer is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the pools are mechanically and chemically kept at health department standards during the absence of pool staff.
- Oversees managers in maintaining pool standaand rds, assists in training how to maintain chemicals in pools. Delivers supplies to the pools
- Must be responsible for all pool faciliand ties, equipment and maintain the pools and pool shop.
- Must be able to keep records on equipment, supplies and maintenance and performs minor maintenance work.
- Must be able to pass the city-driving course.
- Carries out a continuous effort to improve operations, work processes; and works cooperatively and jointly to provide continuous improvement and customer-driven service.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must be able to operate or use tools, sump pumps, vacuums, lawn mowers, and weed eaters.

Must be able to take work orders and use a computer, drive a city vehicle, and be familiar with the city of Columbus.
Minimum Educational and Training Requirements
Must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age, presently in high school, have a high school diploma or GED, or any combination of education, training and experience, which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Must possess a valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements
The work is typically performed in an office, library, computer room Aquatic Center or outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to loud noise, dust, machinery with moving parts, and irritating chemicals. The work may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will work early morning and late afternoons, lift heavy objects when necessary, drive to each pool site and complete any minor maintenance work required. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

Manual Dexterity – picking, pinching, typing, working with fingers rather than hand.

Mental Acuity – ability to make rational decisions through sound logic, deductive reasoning.

Reaching – extending hands or arms in any direction.

Repetitive Motion – substantial movements of wrists, hands, fingers.

Speaking – expressing ideas with spoken word, convey detailed, important instructions accurately, concisely.

Standing – for sustained periods of time.

Talking 2 – shouting to be heard above ambient noise.

Visual Acuity 1 - prepare, analyze data, transcribing, computer terminal, extensive reading.

Walking - on foot to accomplish tasks, long distances, or site to site.
