Your Coastal Corporate Office in Albany is looking for a Animal Health Buyer!

General Position Summary: (but not limited to)

The buyer is responsible for source selection and purchasing functions directly associated with the company’s need for specific products and services. Products and services are to be secured at cost, quality, and delivery levels consistent with Company policy and performance standards. The position is further responsible for the timely planning, scheduling of receipt, and inventory control of the products and services as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Initiates purchase orders and amendments for product and/or services; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required;
  • Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness.
  • Works closely with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, inventory control and management. Negotiates prices and delivery terms.
  • Visits suppliers' facilities to qualify them as new sources and assists in the resolution of production, design, quality, and/or delivery problems.
  • Attends product shows as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required

Required Job Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures.
  • Complete knowledge of warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge and ability to negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Must have basic computer skills with knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Education and Experience:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Two to five years of relevant purchasing experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Purchasing experience with a product line specific to the position is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license.

Physical Demands/Job Conditions:

  • Required to sit for long periods of time in an office environment.
  • Very frequent phone and computer use.
  • Frequent in-state and out-of-state travel required.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

This position will be for working in the Home Office in Albany, OR
