The ideal candidate, under general supervision, performs professional administrative, financial, reports, budgets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, program, systems, statistical, public information, and other staff/technical analyses related to department, division, or City-wide activities and functions; makes recommendations for action and assists in policy/procedure development and implementation; performs related work as assigned.
The position may be filled at the Analyst I or Analyst II level depending upon selected candidate's qualifications. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the qualifying knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain these qualifications would be:
To qualify for Analyst I - NONREP (Range 880 $30.00 - $39.27 per hour)
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, accounting/finance, or a field closely related to the department’s program/discipline.
- Related business or program administration experience may be substituted for the education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two years.
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, accounting/finance, or a field closely related to the department’s program/discipline.
- Two years of progressively responsible experience in administrative/financial/program budgetary or similar analyses, program/operations management support or related work at the level of Analyst I. Experience in a public agency is desirable.
2. Examination Phase: Based upon the information presented on the application, a limited number of candidates who possess qualifications most pertinent to the position will be invited to participate in the selection process. The selection process may include but is not limited to the following components: application review and evaluation, written examination or exercise, practice exercise and interview evaluation.
3. Establishment of Eligibility List: Candidates who successfully complete the examination process will be placed on the eligibility list pending further review by the department head and other qualifying procedures. Please note, this eligibility list may be used for other departments.
