Job description
CitySquare places AmeriCorps members with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Dallas, TX, which helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future.
The AmeriCorps School Success Coach will provide education-based case management to newly-arrived refugee youth, with the goal of empowering them to attain long-term success in their new academic setting. Service schedule is Monday-Friday from 11:30am to 7:30pm, with one Saturday per month. Duties include establishing an individual service plan for the academic year with newly arrived refugee high schoolers and their family, providing mentoring, guidance, advocacy, mediation, and social activities, providing one-on-one English as a Second Language tutoring and homework assistance for youth, guiding students through application processes for college, afterschool jobs, or driver’s permit/license process, and facilitating mental health screeners and providing psychosocial support.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Available from January 9 – April 28, 2023
- Available 32 hours per week: schedule varies based on position, see hours above
- High School Graduate (17 or older)
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Deferred action and temporary permanent resident do not qualify)
- Able to access reliable transportation
- Able to pass a criminal background check
Preferred qualifications:
- Preferred one-year experience in a non-profit setting as a paid employee or volunteer, and/or experience in social work, human service or a related field
