Trinity Health Hyperbaric Oxygen Technician

The Hyperbaric Oxygen Technician provides Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to all referred patients. This consist of Administering and monitors oxygen therapy. Collaborates with all other disciplines at assigned center. Assists in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, established policies and procedures. Trains and performs competency testing for new colleagues. Completes additional HBO safety education. Works alongside the wound care team under the direction of the Wound Care Supervisor and Wound Care Physician.

What the Hyperbaric Oxygen Technician will need:

  • Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited school of nursing
  • Preferred: Approved hyperbaric oxygen therapy technical training.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in the Science of Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred and encouraged.
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) licensure authorized in the state of Michigan.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Preferred: CHT certification.
What the Hyperbaric Oxygen Technician will Do:
  • Provides wound care assessments/dressing changes per scope of practice
  • Works with providers to ensure patients are properly screened prior to hyperbaric oxygen therapy, including providing doctors with accurate information specific to patient's medical condition that may affect the provider’s recommendation.
  • Prepares patients referred for hyperbaric oxygen treatment, including and orientation, risk assessment, compiling vital records from providers to support medical necessity of therapy, and recording vital signs before and after therapy.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA rules, and privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures.
