The Tunbridge School is an elementary-middle school in the Govans neighborhood, serving approximately 475 students in pre-k through grade eight. Our school opened in the fall of 2010 and is operated by Afya Baltimore Inc. (ABI). At Tunbridge, we focus on the intellectual, social/emotional, and physical health of our students. Tunbridge is committed to providing the necessary support and structures as our young people grow and mature.

In accordance with the Tunbridge mission of teaching our children to live healthy, balanced lives, we offer our families a high quality option for students in pre-k through middle school for before and after school needs. The ABI Schools Out-of-School Time Program (OST) includes homework assistance, enrichment clubs and supper.

ABI Schools OST Program is currently seeking fun-loving, energetic, and dependable part-time After-School Counselors who love working with children (ages 4-14) and are available to work "after school" hours (M-F, 2:00-6:00 pm) during the 2021-22 school year. The position offers competitive compensation and an excellent work environment. The OST Program is an enrichment-based, teacher-guided program promoting healthy social and emotional development of young children in a child-centered environment.

Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. They must have one year of experience working with children in a childcare or summer camp setting as a teacher, aide, or volunteer. Additional qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated skills establishing effective relationships with staff, parents, and children or excellent customer service experience
  • Patience and flexibility
  • Classroom management skills
  • Strong work ethic and communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • Pass required state and company background checks

Essential functions include:

  • Provide care and oversight to students during activities such as indoor and outdoor play, arts and crafts, daily snack distribution and cleanup, and homework support for students in grades pre-k through 8 (as needed)
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for students in collaboration with team members
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Director to provide a consistent approach in supporting each child’s developmental needs
  • Maintain health and safety standards that promote high quality care for young children as prescribed by the Maryland Department of Education’s Office of Child Care. Tunbridge OST program will be in compliance with COVID protocols and procedures established by Baltimore City Public Schools.
