Overview of Job:
This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Community & Animal Support department by providing exceptional service and care for customers who are visiting and contacting the organization. CASA is responsible for all intake from the public, reuniting pets with their people and finding forever homes for the animals in our adoption center. Areas of responsibility include training and managing staff, maintaining animal records, and preparing monthly reports.
Success Criteria & Essential Duties:
- Highly skilled in managing people, this role will ensure that employees have clear goals, responsibilities, and expectations. They will provide specific performance feedback and ongoing training.
- Customer focused, with excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills including conflict resolution.
- Collaborates with others to identify new adoption marketing opportunities, intake diversion strategies and lost and found reunification efforts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to create and sustain positive relationships with volunteers, clients and partner groups.
- Attention to detail is required to ensure that animal and client records and financial reports are accurate and completed on time.
- Must treat all animals humanely and humans respectfully, and with compassion at all times, regardless of the situation or circumstance and promote a humane and caring attitude.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all LA/SPCA information and documentation.
- Expected to work extended hours as needed as this position is part of the core team in Storm & Emergency Response situations. This requires the ability to work weekends and maintains a 24 hr. on call status.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Two years customer service experience required
- Supervisory experience preferred but not required
- Proficiency in a second language is preferred but not required (sign on bonus provided for this skill)
Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:
- Must be 24 years old or older and have a driving record acceptable to the vehicle insurance company as driving a company vehicle for specific events is required
- Available to work weekends and some evenings
- Considered essential during emergencies, incumbent is expected to work extended hours during emergencies and weather events. Ability to work weekends and holidays and maintain a 24 hr. on call status as needed
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds; push and pull heavy objects; bend, twist, reach; perform strenuous physical activities including frequent walking and running, standing, bending and stooping
- Should not be allergic to animals or nut products; must be able to work around all animals, including wildlife
- Must be able to work with industrial strength cleaners and disinfectants
Working Conditions:
- Works in areas with high noise levels
- Potentially subject to animal bites and scratches
Pay Range: $19.00- $22.00 per hour
