POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Diocese of Grand Rapids is seeking a full-time bilingual (English, Spanish) Admissions Advocate for our Catholic Schools. The advocate will be part of the Admissions and Enrollment team and assist in the enrollment growth efforts for all 31 schools (including 26 elementary and 5 high schools) in the Diocese. The Advocate will be responsible for recruiting prospective pre-K through 12thgrade students, with strong emphasis on targeted groups including historically underserved populations from parishes without schools, and Latino, immigrant, and African American students from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds. This involves working directly with school personnel and interested students and their families.

EFFECTIVE: July 2022

BROAD STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the enrollment growth efforts for all 31 Catholic schools (26 elementary and 5 high schools) within the Diocese of Grand Rapids. Advocates will be responsible for recruiting prospective pre-K through 12th grade students, with particular emphasis on targeted groups including historically underserved populations, such as Latino and immigrant students from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. This involves working directly with school personnel and interested students and their families.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Assist with the implementation of Diocesan enrollment growth initiatives which include targeted parishes/schools.
  • Assist schools to implement their individual enrollment growth plan within their local community
  • Initiate personal contact (phone and email), attend events, and extend invitations
  • Use a Customer Relationship Management software to manage communications with prospective families, gather reports and refer families to the schools through the system
  • Provide information and support to families about the admissions and financial aid application process for new students
  • Schedule and coordinate school visits for interested families, including follow ups
  • Provide support for enrolled students and families when necessary
  • Track data on families and community outreach and run enrollment reports that will guide our outreach efforts
  • Develop strategic relationships and partnerships with community organizations and other Catholic supporters in the Diocese
  • Initiate and run specific student recruitment initiatives targeting suburban parishes and parishes with large Latino populations within the Diocese of Grand Rapids
  • Help develop and maintain materials to be used in community outreach
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred, unless candidate has strong previous experience in education, marketing, sales and/or public relations
  • Strong interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working with Hispanic populations and Bi-lingual Spanish/English highly preferred
  • Self-motivated, outstanding organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to problem-solve and multi-task in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong commitment to strengthening Catholic Pre-K through 12thgrade schools
  • Knowledge of and support for the mission of Catholic schools
  • Open to working some evening and weekend hours (as needed)
  • Familiarity with the Diocese of Grand Rapids Catholic schools preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite required
