Responsibilities of the Activity Director:

• To plan, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the activity programming
• As an Activity Director, you are delegated the authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out the recreational, emotional and social needs of the resident's served.
• Compile and maintain current activity schedules
• Ensure that necessary forms, reports, and progress notes that contain informative descriptions of the service provided and the residents; responses to the services; participate in community planning
• Coordinate activities with residents, their families, staff members and community agencies through the interviews, consultations, and direct involvement in the programs
• Assist in the development, administration and coordination of departmental policies
• Prepare monthly activity calendars and newsletters

Education & Qualifications of the Activity Director

• Graduate of an accredited high school
• Ability to work independently or part of a group
• Effectively communicate with others
• Previous long-term care experience desirable
• Working towards MEPAP certification
