The National Services Center located in Northwest Phoenix, has an opening for an Accounting Clerk - with the Payroll Accounting team.

What you will be doing

This individual will have responsibility for remitting, reporting and balancing employee benefit payments and deductions for specific company divisions.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsibility for large/complex division payroll reporting including payments
  • Filing and assisting locating documents
  • Oversee cross training of division duties
  • Open and distribute mail
  • Complete assignments accurately and consistently within contractual requirements
  • Develop excellent working knowledge of the PeopleSoft Payroll system
  • Filing and assisting locating documents
  • Manual tracking of benefit issues
  • 3rd Party (Union Dues, SCEA, 401(k), etc.) reporting and payments (preparing and analyzing reports and payments from PeopleSoft)
  • Research, analyze, and make recommendations related to employee deductions and benefit issues using PeopleSoft and/or Oracle
  • Code and enter payments into Oracle
  • Contribute and participate in team activities

Knowledge & Experience

Education Level:

  • 2 or more years college with accounting course work or equivalent experience
  • 2 or more years' experience in a larger organization with mainframe-based accounting

Skills and Experiences:

  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of account reconciliation
  • Intermediate level PC skills with knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Display strong leaderships skills - lead by example
  • Self-motivated and ability to make logical, rational decisions independently
  • Ability to organize and prioritize job tasks
  • Ability to resolve difficult issues with external/internal customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Honest and trustworthy, exhibiting sound business ethics
  • Speed and accuracy in 10 key data input
  • Working knowledge of common payroll practices "Go to person"
  • Proven record of positive interactions with co-workers
