Position: Accountant II
Reports To: Reconciliation Supervisor
Working Conditions: Normal, no adverse or hazardous conditions
Job Group Category: Exempt
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00 pm (Additional hours as needed)
Primary Purpose: (Summary of major reason this job exists)
Prepares, analyzes, and/or reviews accounting entries using accounting principles and oversees a segment of the accounting processes.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: (Majority of duties performed, but not meant to be all inclusive or to prevent other duties from being assigned)
- Keeps records of account entries by compiling and analyzing accounting activities
- Prepares reports and other documents that project the organization’s financial position
- Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff
- Reviews financial statements for completeness, accuracy, and compliance
- Oversees a segment of the accounting function
- May provide leadership, coaching, and /or mentoring to subordinate group
- May act as a “lead” or supervisor
- Coordinates accounting matters with other departments
- Assists with the completion of Regulatory Reporting (SEC and FDIC/FRB)
- Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor
Job Specifications: (Knowledge, skills, and abilities normally required for competent performance in the job)
- Performs work under general supervision
- Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred) with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Typically requires analytical and problem solving skills
- Detail oriented and able to follow set guidelines
- Good organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Above average computer and keyboard skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to work within a team
