JOBUnder the guidance of the Assistant Controller, the primary objective of the accountant is to process and review accounting transactions related to fixed assets, projects, banking, as well as perform monthly account reconciliations, financial reporting, and grant accounting support. Additional responsibilities include: Regularly perform analysis on various asset and liability general ledger accounts. Post reoccurring monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entry allocations. Review potential assets and create asset records in SAP. Perform annual asset inventory. Manage lease and software schedules for GASB 87 and GASB 96. Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards and ongoing maintenance.Perform regular analysis and reconciliation of project accounts. Creates, maintains, and capitalizes projects in SAP. Prepares incoming/outgoing banking entries. Responsible for maintaining accounting records for select grants and assist with other grant accounting responsibilities when needed. Assist with year-end close to reconcile general ledger accounts, preparing schedules and documentation, and populating the FINRPT. Assist with annual reporting for NCAA, EADA, IPEDS, and others.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or financeMinimum 3 years of relevant experience in an accounting or finance related positionExperience creating journal entries, performing reconciliations, and financial analysis. Advanced understanding of Microsoft ExcelKnowledge of accounting software/programs (SAP preferred)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsDetail oriented with excellent organizational skills
