SALARY SCHEDULE: CERTIFIED TEACHER SCHEDULE


DEPARTMENT: SECONDARY INSTRUCTION


FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

POSITION SUMMARY:

The goal of the intervention specialist is to work alongside teachers and students to increase student academic achievement in the areas of English Language Arts, Literacy, and Mathematics. The intervention specialist needs to be data driven and goal oriented as they implement effective, evidence-based strategies in a creative manner.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Must have at least 3 years teaching experience in either English Language Arts or Mathematics
  • OSDE certification in Elementary Education preferred, but will accept certification in Secondary ELA and/or Math

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assist and support classroom teachers with remediation and differentiated classroom lessons.
  • Work with students individually or in small groups for interventions.
  • Assist with data collection and assessment systems, including universal screening and progress monitoring, to inform decisions appropriate for Tier I, II, III interventions.
  • Implement a collaborative approach to analyzing student data and working together in the intervention process.
  • Provide explicit instruction and opportunities for practice for students in need of remediation.
  • Prepare forms, records, and reports as directed.
  • Help prepare professional development opportunities and resources for staff members.
  • Establish positive professional relationships with students, families, and staff members.
  • Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs.
  • Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret journals, diagnostic reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from members of the school community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.


REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
